  13. • Packing Materials (Box Version Only)
  14. The Mariner Write package contains:
  15. - Mariner Write 2.0 install disks (two high density floppy diskettes)
  16. - Printed manual, 2.0 Manual Addendum, Installation notes, and registration card. If any of these parts are missing from your Mariner Write package, please contact Mariner Software at (502) 222-6695.

  18. • Registration Card
  19. Electronic Versions - You do not need to register, registration information is automatically forwarded by the vendor.

Please take a minute to fill out and return the Mariner Write registration card, email the Registration document or use the registration form on our web page (www.marinersoft.com, go to the support page). Registered users are eligible to receive technical support and will be sent product update information.

  23. 2. Feature Notes
  24. • Imported Graphics
  25. You can import graphics in the following formats: GIF, PICT, JPEG, or EPS. If you often import large graphics (200k or larger), you may need to increase Mariner Write’s memory allocation. Changing Mariner Write’s memory allocation is detailed in the Mariner Write manual.

  29. • EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) Files:
  30. To view your PostScript file as a graphic, make sure the PostScript artwork is saved in EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) format. An EPS contains a preview of the graphic so you can easily identify and position it in your document.

  32. • GIF Files:
  33. Mariner Write can display both standard and interlaced GIF files. Interlaced GIF files are commonly used for WWW page development.

  35. • JPEG Files:
  36. JPEG documents are compressed to use less space. When a JPEG is inserted into a Mariner Write document, it must be de-compressed using Apple’s QuickTime Extension. You cannot import JPEG graphics if the QuickTime Extension isn't installed. QuickTime is not included with the Mariner Write package.

  38. Saving Files
  39. Mariner Write uses the following icons to denote the documents it can save.

  57. Documents saved using a DataViz translator display the respective application’s icon. These documents may display as blank icons if the respective application isn’t installed.

  59. 3. TroubleShooting
  60. • Installation
  61. Problem: Error message during installation.
  62. Solution: Restart your Macintosh with Extensions disabled. Do this by restarting your Mac while pressing the Shift key pressed until the “Welcome to Macintosh…Extensions Disabled” message is displayed.

  64. • Actual Fonts/Preferences
  65. Problem: Preferences dialog box takes several minutes to dismiss after the Actual Fonts control is selected.
  66. Solution: The on-screen portion of the font may be damaged. One easy way to check a font is to open the font’s suitcase icon. Then open each screen font. If a sample of the font isn’t displayed, the font is probably damaged and should be removed or replaced.
